Just want to say, thank you for the messages and words of encouragement that I’ve received. It’s awesome to know that there are so many kind-hearted genuine people out there.
As you may know, I am preparing for a BIG MOVE. As such, I’m doing my spring cleaning a little early and attempting to clear out about half of my wardrobe. I recently enlisted the help of an app I found called Vinted to help me do that.
The reason I sought out an app like this is because I was thinking over how great it would be to be able to have a yard sale of sorts with my clothes. I don’t want to make a huge profit off of them. I would be happy getting rid of this stuff for $1 each. It’s not that I have some emotional connection to my clothes, well you know what, it is a little bit like that. I don’t want to just dump them at Goodwill. I’ve volunteered there and, quite often, clothes get dumped or discarded. I’d prefer that my hand-me-downs go to some good use.
Vinted has, so far, been really good. It’s a little more work than a yard sale because I need to go to the post office etc. I would say for all the hours of prep that have gone into cleaning, steaming, photography, packaging, and mailing items, I’ve probably made $5-10/hour. That’s pretty dismal but with the added benefit of my clothes going to someone who will actually wear them, I’m willing to take it!
I think this app is a great idea especially for teens to 1) learn some principles of business and 2) learn to manage their purchase decisions without risking getting in a heavy debt situation.
Check it out when you get a chance!
