As you know, I just road tripped through Scotland, Ireland, and Wales. I have already been blessed to have been exposed to many of your beautiful creations in my lifetime but I am now thanking you for these journeys specifically.
It it hard to put into words the impact visiting these places has had on my world view. I was mesmerized by the beauty and splendor of natural surroundings and ancient man-made beautiful structures coming together in a way that evoked emotions from me that I didn’t think could come from just observing my surroundings.
I was perplexed, you see, how such beauty could exist simultaneously with hatred, violence, and the many things that plague our human world. I am convinced that, should all people be exposed to your breathtaking goodness, the only possible outcome is peacefulness and serenity.
I will never forget the feeling of driving from Glasgow to Kennecraig and taking an early morning ferry through the Scottish loch over to the Island of Islay. I won’t forget the first times I truly understood what it means that something could not be captured in a picture, for a picture is worth a thousands words but the experience is worth an infinite number of words.
I will never forget how I felt to walk over rocks and put my feet into Loch ness. I long to always remember how I felt hopping over a fence in the Irish countryside and taking in the abandoned ruined of Athassel Abbey, attempting to close my eyes and envision it as a lively thriving place of worship.
I could talk about this trip for days on end and never grow tired of the beauty and the thoughts and emotions that that beauty facilitated for us.
Words sometimes fail but please let this one mean more than it’s ever meant when I’ve said it before: thanks!
