I got my tonsils out two days ago. Holy cow! Ouch ouch ouch! I am 24 years old and, though I was warned that this wasn’t going to be a walk in the park, I really wasn’t prepared (nor could I have ever gotten prepared) for how awful this is.

At the same time that I’m appalled at how painful this is even in light of an immense amount of pain killers, I am amazed that health professionals are able to safely remove part of my body to improve my overall health. I have been sick on and off for two years and I had reconciled myself to always having some level of illness because I’m very sensitive to pollen and mold and dust.

I’m praying that this works and that, after I recover, I am back to an even healthier and happier version of myself, as if that was even possible.

In the meantime, I’m in a weird drug-induced haze and it’s REALLY REALLY hard to remain coherent enough to keep on studying for my MBA classes. I am especially worried about an accounting test I’m taking first thing Monday morning. I can’t go without my meds right now based on this extreme level of pain but I also don’t think I will be able to properly study or have the cognitive ability to do the work that this test will take when I’m on them. It’s a debacle.
