You’re asked to recite a poem (or song lyrics) from memory — what’s the first one that comes to mind? Does it have a special meaning, or is there another reason it has stayed, intact, in your mind?
When I was in high school, we had to write a poem and my teacher liked mine so much that I ended up reciting it an unreasonable number of times. Now, whenever poetry gets mentioned, I can’t help but internally recite this poem that I wrote a decade ago:
French fries make you fat
But what is the matter with that?
What if it were weird to be thin,
and cool to have more than one chin
People would say that you are “hot”,
because skinny, you are not
You would eat and eat and eat
Until you could no longer see your feet
Then you would want eat some more
because it is attractive to not fit out your door
No one would be ashamed and cry,
So go ahead, eat another fry.
