I’ve always been a fidgety driver. While I do not agree with stereotyping girls as bad drivers, if there was ever a stereotype that I fed right into, it’s that one. Sometimes, I just cannot handle drives especially long ones. I just want to get there already and I get easily annoyed with other drivers. They always seem to be going too fast or too slow or doing something crazy that I don’t like.
I had to take a long drive yesterday and it was the most relaxing of my life. Sometimes I forget that God let’s us pray about whatever we want. He doesn’t always answer our prayers but, hey, we can still ask!
The theme of patience has been showing up over and over again in my life as of late. I’ve had a lot of opportunities to develop more patience. Who asks for patience in traffic though? That’s weird! (Sorry if this is something you do already.)
"Rejoice in hope, be patient in tribulation, be constant in prayer." Romans 12:12
Anyways, I’ve been asking God for help in all my other opportunities to practice patience but it never occurred to me to ask him for it in driving until yesterday. So I did. And, low and behold, He delivered! I think He was having a good laugh up there too because, after I started out my journey asking for patience in the drive, I hit not one but TWO HUGE TRAFFIC JAMS!
In total, my journey was delayed by OVER TWO HOURS! Shockingly, I was not anxious, I was not frustrated, I was not upset. I mean, I wasn’t exclaiming “I LOVE TRAFFIC!” but, nonetheless, I was reminded of the indescribable power of prayer.
