Faith / Opinions & Happenings

For the next time you’re thinking of trusting any picture you see in a magazine..

We’ve all known for a while that photoshop was a crazy weird tool that makes people (girls, mostly) turn into something inhuman looking and then society calls it “pretty”. Many celebs have spoken out against photoshop. But the practice remains a standard as evidenced by pretty much every magazine cover or billboard ever.

I recently listened to a sermon that talked about this culture we’ve created of only “sharing” the best (and usually most fake) pictures of ourselves which, I believe, was born in part due to the “photoshop norm”. You can check out the sermon here.(Side note: It’s part 8 of a 10 part series, all of which are worth a listen. If you’re limited on time, try #2 and #5 and #8).

The pastor in the sermon said that he found a video of turning a pizza into a girl with photoshop, which I could not believe so I found it.

Crazy, right?

Anyways, I’m very guilty of succumbing to the “photoshop culture” so here’s a picture of what I really look like. I was appalled when this picture was posted on social media and swiftly untagged myself but now here it is.

There's my amazing friend, Audrey, on the right and there is me on the left, in all my beauty.
